Tufted storage bed – Building a bed may seem out of the way of the do-it-yourself league: carpentry and complex carpentry, lots of drilling, sanding and effort. Adding a storage bed and thinking of drawers or shelves only makes it very complex. Or does it? Out of the box, and you can make your own platform-style bed with maximum storage below in less than an hour. Apply carpenter’s glue to the back of two cubicle storage towers, with approximate dimensions of 20 by 20 by 75 inches for a single-size storage bed. Place the two towers on their sides, back to back, and press them together so that the stuck backs have full contact with each other. Let the glue dry. This allows access to the storage cubicles on both sides of the bed.
Center a 1-inch thick MDF sheet measuring 40-by-75 inches over the top of the two storage towers of the tufted storage bed platform. Attach the platform to the cubicle towers with 1-1 / 2 inch screws driven every 8 to 10 inches around the perimeter of the platform, and in 8 to 10 inch centers across the MDF platform. Your simple storage platform bed has been completed. And then if you want the platform to have a lip in the cubicles, make it about 1 to 2 inches wider and longer than the cubicles. If you cannot find a storage tower, glue cubes to individual compartments together instead of creating the platform bed base.

Tufted storage bed ideas with build a large drawer under the bed, which you can pull out and roll into place again. It’s a clever solution that gives plenty of space in the deep drawer, but at the same time it is completely hidden under the bed. We also make closets on both sides of the bed, which is covered with sliding doors. It’s smart, because it saves you even more space and does not really need sleepers at all.
